PLOT
Hunter Steel, 11, uses directions from his grandfather's journal to look for the fabled inner world. He walks into a pyramid and discovers a strange manacle that fastens on his arm. Hunter is startled by a spider, which causes him to tumble into the Earth's core and into the underground realm of arachnids. The Invectids, a race of insectoids, are attacking Arachna, and he finds a small band of exceptional warriors fighting to survive and defend it. Each of the fighters, who are children or teenagers, is supported in combat by a 10 feet (3.0 m) battle spider. They identify as "Spider Riders." The characters' ages were lowered in the English TV series. A surface-dweller or Human, like Hunter, is said to bring destruction to the Inner World according to a prophecy. It is mentioned by Sparkle at the start of the TV show. Princess Sparkle remarks, "I wonder if he will bring doom to us...or to them," after learning the news.
